Can I trust Michael Ausiello?

From TVGuide.com:

BREAKING NEWS: Sources confirm that UPN is in talks to acquire CBS’ Love Monkey! Hooray! I’ll (hopefully) have more on this in Friday’s Ausiello Report.

I’m happy, and I don’t even know what this means. UPN, the soon-to-be-defunct network? That seems like it means it would burn off the eight episodes shot this season, and then both network and series are history by the end of the summer. I won’t even hope that it means the new CW network will pick it up for next season. Well, I will hope, but I won’t publicly state my hope. Oh … right.

EDIT: And the answer to my title question? No, I probably can’t. Here’s the update:

A source close to Monkey confirms that UPN has expressed interest in acquiring the show’s five unaired episodes, but as of now, it isn’t in the plans. “But,” the source adds, “anything could happen in the future.”

Well, sure. But I don’t want to hear about it until it’s past the “anything could happen” stage. Stupid heightened expectations.

I trust Ausiello over Wrongda…which is unfortunate, since he only confirms the possibility of burnoffs and she’s spreading the rumour that the new UPNWBCWBS is interested.

Getting the remaining episodes burned off would be better than nothing. I guess.

Way to go, CBS, wussing out because it didn’t immediately shoot to number one in a seriously competitive timeslot on the most competitive night of television.

Yeah, I’m definitely shooting the messenger on this … Ausiello did say he heard they were in “talks,” which seems to be true. And his whole purpose is giving us rumours like this before they’re officially confirmed – I’m just bitter at his source.

I’m torn on shooting CBS, because the ratings did go down each week, which isn’t the direction you want them to go, but I think they should have waited until The Amazing Race came back so it could have had a not completely incompatible lead-in. I’ll keep my fingers crossed that we’ll see the rest of the episodes that were shot, at least.
